TRAVELERS REST AND COVID-19

The goal of the TR Board for this ’20-’21 winter season is for all of us to remain safe and healthy. To that end, we have worked diligently to plan activities/entertainment and implement protocols that will reduce the potential of transmitting COVID-19 to any resident.*  However, it will require the cooperation of each one of us to be successful.  If COVID-19 infections emerge in the community, it will cause the TR Board to review and potentially cancel all activities and entertainment.

When you arrive at TR:

Phone the office to check in rather than going in person
Answer the Health Assessment and COVID-19 Exposure Questions attached to this flyer. Return the sheet to the Post Office in the Local Mail slot.  Depending on your answers, you may be asked to avoid gathering and socializing, or participating in activities and entertainment for a period of 14 days.
Follow the General Safety Recommendations and TR Safety Protocols listed below

If you have guests, remember that they may bring a COVID-19 infection to TR even if they are feeling fine and have no symptoms:

Phone the office to notify them that you have guests.  Complete the Health Assessment and COVID-19 Exposure Questions for each guest
Depending on the answers to the questions, you may need to limit your visitors to your residence area while in the resort.
Guests are expected to observe the General Safety Recommendations and TR Safety Protocols while at the resort.

General Safety Recommendations:

If you are feeling ill or have a fever greater than 100.4 degrees, please stay home.
Symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever, cough, difficulty breathing, body aches, new loss of taste or smell, vomiting or diarrhea, sore throat, runny nose or congestion that is new and not related to allergies.
Maintain 6 feet of (social) distance from others; avoid hugs, handshakes, and close quarters.
Wear a facemask in public areas when inside, and when outside if you cannot maintain a 6’ distance.
Wash your hands with soap and water, or use alcohol hand sanitizer frequently; avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

TR Safety Protocols:

Face masks and social distancing are required in all buildings at TR, including the business office, the post office, and the post office lobby.
Face masks and social distancing between household groups are required for large group gatherings outside, such as Sunday entertainment or church services.  While you are seated, you may remove your mask if you choose to do so.
Face masks and social distancing are required when shopping at any vendors (such as the vegetable stand) who set up for business on TR.
Alcohol based hand sanitizer has been placed in every building for use by residents.
Spray bottles of sanitizing solution are in all buildings.  Use them to disinfect high touch surfaces, let the area dry for one minute and wipe off.  Activity chairpersons will be responsible for sanitizing after each activity.
Specific restrictions apply at the pool and golf course; check there for the latest details.
Avoid confrontation and remove yourself from any situation where you do not feel safe.

*This guidance has been developed in coordination with TR Management, as well as infection control input from TR Fire/Rescue.  It is also subject to modification a
s COVID conditions change in this area.

SUNDAY IN THE GROVE

A global pandemic might slow us down but it can’t stop the fun at Travelers Rest!   You’ve all been waiting to hear about plans for entertainment this season -  let me invite you to experience a new treat, “Sunday in the Grove”.

With the help of the TR Executive Board, Ray Hill, and Doug Pedersen, we have re-imagined our Sunday evening entertainment, and turned it into wonderful afternoons under the trees, at a new outdoor music venue next to the Snack Shack Pavilion.   Ice cream will be available to purchase at 3:30 p.m.,  performances will begin at 4 p.m., and you are all invited to bring your lawn chairs and picnic baskets and enjoy the exciting acts we have lined up.

As important as fun is, the safety of our residents, guests and staff is our #1 focus and concern.  We love being able to provide a large outdoor music stage for everyone  to enjoy live music, especially given the limited number of options that are available.  However, we need to be able to do so in a safe and responsible manner, with everyone cooperating to social distance  while watching these live shows.  Our only other option is to cancel live music completely for the remainder of the year and we are going to do our best to avoid that!

Keeping in mind that this situation is subject to change, we will request that masks be worn when not seated.  We will ask you not to sit or stand in groups, congregate in the parking area with lawn chairs, etc.     If you are not able to adhere to these guidelines for our live shows, given the current restrictions we face, we respectfully suggest you wait to attend entertainment until  things have returned to normal.

We hope that all of our residents appreciate our efforts  and will give their full cooperation and respect to our staff - and come prepared to enjoy the music of the Cypress Creek Jazz Band at our first performance of the season, November 1, 2020!
