Activities and Services at Travelers Rest Resort and Golf Course

Travelers Rest Resort is a unique Resort founded and built by volunteers who provide a variety of activities and services. Everyone who stays with us is welcome to participate. TR has an Activities Coordinator on staff.

Resort facilities, open all year, include the 9 hole Golf course and pool with spa. Check out our Sunday Night Entertainment; you won’t want to miss a performance!

Bingo	Fun for everyone
Bridge - Fun bridge and Duplicate –	Three fun packed evenings for mind stimulation and camaraderie.
Cribbage	A challenging game of cards. Fifteen two – fifteen four -----
Dominoes	Come have some fun!
Euchre	Check The TR TIMES for details about our regular Friday and Bid Euchre nights.
Hand & Foot	An easy, fun card game consisting of 4 hands. Can be learned in one night.
Joker	Board game similar to Chinese Checkers. We have sufficient game boards to accommodate those who wish to come and learn.
Poker	Poker for Fun! A friendly game of penny poker

AARP (Driver Safety Class)	Defensive Driving Course; registration is required; signup sheet at the TR Post Office.

Book Browsers Club	Join us at our weekly book reviews!
Bird/Nature Walk	Tuesday mornings we walk for 2-3 hours around the park, seeing as many as 32 different species in a single outing. We also observe local turtles, alligators, armadillos, deer and, recently, eagles.
Carpenter Shop	See Woodworking
Computer Club	Weekly meetings include Q&A, demonstrations of various computing tools and workshops where members assist each other with different aspects of computer operation. Everyone is welcome. Link to Computer Club Web Page
Crafts	Bring your ideas to share and join us; weekly
Creative Writing	Explore the wonderful world of the written word weekly.

Digital Cameras	Learn to use your digital camera. Work with photo images on your computer. Check the TR Times for details and join us!
Doll Making (soft dolls)	Complete one or two soft dolls. Learn to needle sculpt a doll from head to toe.
Genealogy	Join us to find the missing pieces to your family puzzle.
Garden Club	Join TR’s gardeners at Lake Margaret. Come to learn. Work a little. Laugh a lot!
Geocaching	GEOCACHING is a real-world outdoor treasure hunting game. Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS-enabled devices and then share their experiences online
Kennel Club	Here at TR we love our pets. We have a PuppyPark, spa and designated walking areas. The Kennel Club hosts monthly meetings with great guest speakers. Door prizes. All are welcome! Click here for more info!
Knitting Lessons	Weekly lessons; come learn and share your ideas!
Miniature Yacht Racing	Sailing two classes of radio controlled sailboats on TR’s own Mirror Lake racing two days per week. Click here for more info!
Motorcycle Club	Come ride with us! We have weekly Breakfast Runs, Tour Runs and monthly meetings. Check TR Times for details.
Model Airplane Club	The TRR Model Airplane Club invites those who are interested to join in building and flying R/C gas or electric powered model airplanes.Outdoor and indoor flying sites are available within the park. AMA or MAC membership is encouraged.
Painting, Oil & Acrylic	Each class is separate so come when possible to listen, learn, watch or paint. Check The TR TIMES for details.
Painting, Watercolor	WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP – one good reason to take a Watercolor Workshop is “for the fun of it”! Join us. Check the TR TIMES for details.
Quilting	Beginners meet twice monthly and we have a very active and expert group – the Quilting Guild - for sharing ideas and skills. The Guild meets twice monthly. Check The TR TIMES for details.
Red Hat Society	At TR we have many, many Red Hat groups for fun and fellowship. Check The TR TIMES for details.
Sewing	Full day of sewing with your own projects and sewing machines. Some group projects.
Small Engine Repair	Members repair small engines on both 2 & 4 cycle including lawnmowers, weed eaters, etc.
Wood Working *Carpenter shop	TR Carpenter Shop is fully equipped, modern and clean.Come join us!
Woodcarving	An interesting hobby for both expert and beginner. Instruction is always available.

Dancing

Ballroom Dancing	Watch Channel 25 or The TR TIMES for details. There is normally a small charge for this activity.
Cloggers	Beginners and Intermediates – 2 days a week. Check the TR TIMES for details.
Friday Night Orchestra Dances	Come and dance to the music of the Travelaires. Each dance has a theme, which is posted on the TR bulletin board in Busch Hall.
Line Dancing	Join us for fun! Twice weekly; check The TR TIMES for details.
New Years Eve Ball	Check The TR TIMES for details on this annual ‘must attend’ event. Dance to the sounds of TRs own Orchestra!

Entertainment

Movies Tuesday Night	TUES NIGHT MOVIES – Free Movie every Tuesday night; short starts 6:45 pm; movie starts 7:15 pm. Ice Cream for Purchase.
Entertainment Designers Network Showcase Day	Don’t miss this all-day annual Entertainment Designers Showcase – 18 different professional acts including comedians, vocalists and musical groups will perform. Admission is FREE!

Exercise

Chair Aerobics	Strength training from the comfort of your chair as directed by videotape.
T’ai Chi Chih/Chuan	Easy Stretching exercises done to improve balance; for any age
Tone & Tighten	Ladies Tone & Tighten: floor exercises to tone & tighten and maintain flexibility with no joint stress. Weights are used for upper body strength and toning.
Walkers Unite	Tuesdays 8:00 am - 10:00 am on the Golf Course cart paths. Join us!
Walking Aerobics	Rain or shine; Daily early indoor walking; walk with others to a three-mile video. Check TR Times for details.
Water Aerobics	Our water aerobics class is conducted 3 times a week in a heated, screen enclosed pool. This workout includes warm-up, cardio, toning and cool down. Our aim is to have fun while getting fit!

Music

Harmonica Club	Harmonaires –playing for fun & camaraderie. Brief instructional time for beginners; solos or combos playing; sing-a-longs and group playing.
Keyboard Club	Got an electric keyboard? Beginners to advanced are welcome to join our group. Here’s an opportunity to enjoy good music, good friends and a good time!
Musician’s “Jam” Sessions	Contact the Activities Coordinator if you want to arrange for a facility or watch the bulletin boards for details.
Theater Group	Little Theater - Meeting weekly with performances scheduled for late March. Check TR Times for more info.
Travelaires Orchestra	If you play an instrument, why not join TR’s own orchestra? We play each Friday night at the dance in Busch Hall and for several other TR Special Events. Check The TR TIMES or Busch Hall bulletin boards for details.
Travelettes Women’s Chorus	A three-part women’s vocal group who love to sing and have fun. We prepare and present our music at a Sunday Night program in the spring.
TR Singing Men	We sing at nursing homes, campgrounds and a veteran’s nursing home. If you like to sing, join us.

Religious

- Weekly nondenominational church services including bible study, hymn sing, worship and communion are offered here at TR. Chaplain on site.

Bible Study A nondenominational in-depth study of God’s word.
Golden Crown Society	As we study God’s word, we try to glorify him in all that is said and done. We also try to encourage and uplift one another.
Women’s Emmaus/Cursillo Reunion	For women who have participated in a Walk to Emmaus, Cursillo, daily Bread, Tres Dias or ViaDeCristo. In an hour long weekly meeting we self evaluate our walk with Christ and share our Christian concerns.

Social Events & Social Dining


Christmas Feast	A gathering of TR residents and guests to share a Christmas meal and celebrate the season.
Coffee Socials	7:30 am to 9:00 am weekdays; informative presentations made by local vendors and charities are often a part of our coffee socials. Check The TR TIMES for details.
Fashion Show	Annual Fashion Show features clothing for the recreational (RV) traveler, refreshments, music and our own TR models.
Flea Markets	First Saturday of each month; November with two in March. Tables are free; one resident per family; must signup for table.
Hobby & Art Show	An annual display of TR hobbies and artist’s work, held at our own Busch Hall. Contact Nancy Rogers for details.
Ice Cream Socials	Serving ice cream to friends and neighbors, for a nominal fee, prior to the Sunday evening program at Busch Hall.
New Years Eve Ball
Supper Club	A chance to dine with friends - old or new, sharing each other's covered dishes. Sign up to join us at a Supper Club.
Talent Show	Showcase of TR talent annually in March
Thanksgiving Feast	A gathering of TR residents and guests to share a Thanksgiving meal.
Tours	Check the Bulletin Board in Busch Hall for details on a variety of day trips, weekend getaways, cruises and overseas tours. Some tours leave from TR.

Sports

Bocce Ball	Organized play schedule is posted in The TR TIMES; partner not needed; come and join us!
Bowling	Sign up at the Busch Hall bulletin board to join us at the Pin Chasers in Zephyrhills. Equipment available.
Cycling	Watch the TR Bulletin Board for details of weekly in-park rides and out-of-park announcements.
Golf activities	Nine hole par 34 golf course, providing activities such as a Men’s League, Women’s League, Scrambles, Night Glow-ball and tournaments. The course is beautifully landscaped and challenging. Golf lessons are available. Click here for more details
Horseshoes	Horseshoe Pitching; singles, doubles and teams
Pickle Ball	Organized play on Thursday and Saturday 9:00 AM. Equipment is available for all that have wanted to give it a try.

Table Tennis	Twice weekly at the Citrus Center join us
Tennis	Open Play and Leagues everyday; watch for signup sheets in Busch Hall.

Blood Mobile	March & December; donating for our community; TR residents can have blood when needed, free of charge.
Blood Pressure Clinics	Trained volunteers will routinely monitor your blood pressure; free of charge throughout the winter season.
Vial of Life	Keep your vial of life data sheet up-to-date and in your fridge.
